The Doppler effect/shift is the change in frequency of a wave moving relative to its source. the received frequency is higher during the approach.
New Frequency of Approaching Source: f'= v / λf
where λf = Wavelength in Front of Source, v =Wave Velocity, f' = New Frequency of Approaching Source.
For example, when Wave Velocity(v) = 10 m/s, Wavelength in Front of Source(λf) = 1 m, Then New Frequency of Approaching Source(f') = 10 Hz.
