A capsule is a cylinder with hemispheres on both ends.
Capsule Formulas
Volume V = πr2((4/3)r + a)
Surface S = 2πr(2r + a)
Circumference C = 2πr
For example, When a = 2, r = 3
- To calculate V, use the following formula: πr2((4/3)r + a). When you substitute a and r for their values, you get π(32)((4/3)3 + 2), which equals 169.646 m3.
- To calculate S, use the following formula: 2πr(2r + a). When you substitute a and r for their values, you get 2π3(2(3) + 2), which equals 150.79645 m2.
- To calculate C, use the following formula: 2πr. When you substitute r for its value, you get 2π3, which equals 18.84956 m.
